Sweet Temptation-- Lillix |
] |
So one night (one of the many many nights spent at misspotter's house) we traveled to Applebees and they were playing this very familiar song. Two restless nights later we found out it was by Lillix. You know, that girl group that came on the heels of the Donnas and the whole 'gurls can rock too!' thing in the late 90s. I think the only remnants of Lillix today is their cover of 'What I Like About You' rolling on the opening to the WB11 show by the same name.
Anyway, we looked them up and they departed from their old ways a lot. In a good way. Their new album is coming out and so far the only song out is "Sweet Temptation" but it's awesome. The chorus reminds me of The Sounds and comes complete with upbeat counting. GIVE IT A LISTEN
Oh and while I'm on the subject of things you should listen to:
Finally acquired some more stuffs by The Fratellis and I am now like 'omg so good!' so give a listen:
Henrietta Creepin' Up The Backstairs
They look like the Arctic Monkey's old bassist, Hyde from Jekyll and Hyde to sing and play guitar, and a member of WAS for drums LOL.

Jetsetter-- Morningwood |
] |
I never got around to posting pictures from The Sounds. I didn't really know any of their new stuff, but I liked what I heard and headed down with Sarah to meet Rachel and watch them. We all sat through the first band which I recall was rather Fallout Boy-ish ie. mainstream pop/rock. Although I remember enjoying the guitarist or bassist throwing his guitar high up in the air and catching it. I am easily amused. Morningwood was the second band up and I learned my lesson the first time so I sat in the back again. They are SO much better when you are not fearing you'll be raped by the lead singer. When I went up later I heard this girl who, poor thing, did not know the ways of Morningwood and was complaining about being touched lol. Anyway, Sarah and I got up to dance around a bit, but sadly we could not make it to the fun mosh pits and were stuck with old fogies who moved in only when a girl was brought on to strip during 'Take Off Your Clothes' It wasn't the same chick as last time, so I guess that puts down the theory of it always being that one girl. To be honest, the girl at Irving was hotter haha. I think the lead singer though so too because she was totes making out with her breasts and I think popped one out for a bit. At one point the lead singer (god I can never remember her name) climbed these huge ass speakers and I guess the crowd around her was chanting 'Jump!' because when the song ended she said 'Yeah right I'm not jumping for you assholes, I'm not wasting insurance on you fuckers.' I was amused, to say the least. She demanded that everyone get on the ground at one point and Sarah and I feared for our lives and did as we were told. Silly asian boys did not, as she pointed out later, and thus the audience was denied the bead of sweat on the nipple. Yeah, that's right.
When Morningwood ended half the room cleared so the three of us could easily get to first row. It's a little sad really, I mean come on people The Sounds are good too! I didn't know what they looked like but I heard that they would be unattractive. SO UNTRUE. ( pictures to prove it! )

the subways *emo tear* |

ok, so here's another question:
ANYONE HAVE EXTRA TICKETS TO THE SUBWAYS????
Yeah, they sold out too. FUCK!
Still lookin' for extra tickets to franz btw.
In other news: Test-icicles broke up. I am personally not very surprised as they seemed very unenthusiastic about being in Test-icicles to begin with. At least I can say I almost got keeled by them saw them before they broke up? lol.
Also: I emailed Russell a while back about the lack of NY shows and he just goes 'I'm sure we'll be back in the summer!' Not cool. Not cool at all. Ya'll bettah come to New York sooner than that! *MSN emo rose*

Storm and Stress- Bloc Party |
] |
The clips are short and not of the best quality (they were taken with my digital camera) but here are some from the Bloc Party gig
I think this is a new song or something
Skeleton This was an extra song someone requested.
This Modern Love
I was a bit stupid and didn't realize that videos would be viewed horizontally so This Modern Love will seem like it's rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise and so will the first bit of Skeleton (it was then I realized my stupid error XD)

Uh, ok, this is just going to be a series of pics basically
( Automato ) ( Engineers *shudders* ) ( BLOC PARTAYY ) Gosh, the lights during Bloc Party were so blinding. My camera was like crapping out due to the intense heat or whatevah. And to continue on, ugh it was such a bitch cuz I kept having to edit out whole people as we were all in the second row (so sorry if some of the pics aren't the same size, although I don't think I included those here in the end)
I have other things but photobucket is being a bitch AGAIN

So on Friday I went to see Maximo Park @ Tonic with Sarah. I was really scared that our ids would get confiscated because the dude literally took my wallet from me and put it up to his face. But they didn't catch Sarah with her crease so I wasn't that scared.
The gig itself was great. Lol, I don't know their names, but the lead singer (Paul?) was really energetic and I love how he swings his hips XD
( Lots of sweat )
Met lj people which is always fun and then Sarah and I went to my house to practice our moves. Haha we kept cracking up when we looked at eachother whilst dancing so before the gig Sarah and I practiced saying "I shagged Max Carlish" with a straight face. Huzzah, we did it (well, we sound like robots, but it's with a serious tone nonetheless)
I've got videos. They're short, and the lighting at Tonic was like "what lighting?" but the audio isn't half bad. They're yousendit links unless someone can show me a better way:
